Yes, I know I’ve just set myself up for every troll floating around in cyber space…

I don’t care – bring it on!

You may remember about 11 years ago a YouTube video called “Charlie bit my finger” went viral. Since it was first uploaded it’s had about 900 million views.
So many people were banging on about the video I decided to take a look.
Disappointed would be a massive understatement, it was a video of some toddler biting his brother’s finger. Whatever floats your boat!

Personally I found some of the spoof remakes more entertaining, here’s a sample. I’ve added this to save you from the misery of watching the original.

Certainly less boring than the original.

Any, what have I discovered that’s even more boring, apart from this blog (just saving the trolls a bit of time)?

It’s called GDPR compliance.

You may have noticed the annoying little pop-ups, the ones that ask for your cookie consent, that rudely interrupt your surfing pleasure. It seems every website’s got one now.
So, I wondered if I should have one on this site. I decided to do some research. After about 5 minutes of frantic Google hopping (I don’t know if that’s even a thing), all I discovered is that this GDPR stuff is very, very, very dull. All the articles I could find were so long winded and technical that in the end I just decided I couldn’t be bothered to find out if I needed one or not.

It’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

W. Clement Stone

An inspired quote from this illustrious insurance salesman. One I often recall in times of doubt.

Long story short, I added one of these annoying pop-ups to my site just in case I needed it. The whole process took about 2 minutes.
If you want to add one to your site, it’s completely free, no email opt-in required, just head on over to the Cookie Consent website and they’ll walk you through it step by step.
